Making highlights

Card highlighted with a white pencil

Supplies:
Dark brown cardstock
Cream colored cardstock
Light brown cardstock
Shiny gold card stock
Dye inkpad (black)
Dye inkpad (Adirondack Espresso or similar)
Pigment inkpad (Versamark or similar)
Stipple brush
Gold embossing powder
Heat tool
Scissors
Paper cutter
Tape
Pop dots or dimensional tape
MSRS Mosaic Frame stamp
MSRS Mini Heart stamp

Steps:
Using a paper cutter, cut the dark brown cardstock to make a 5 ½” x 4 ¼” folded card and a 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” frame piece.
From the cream colored cardstock, cut a liner to fit inside the card. Cut it a bit smaller than the dimensions of the card so that it will fit neatly. Also, cut a 3” x 3” frame piece.
Ink the frame stamp in black dye ink and press it onto the light brown cardstock making sure to press the corners well.
Using scissors cut away the upper left “L shaped piece and the lower right “L” shaped piece. (These two pieces will form the small square frame as shown). Save the remaining left-overs for another project.
Ink the small heart stamp with Versamark and stamp onto the shiny gold cardstock. Heat to emboss and cut the heart out with scissors.
Using tape, join the two “L” shapes together on the reverse side to make a square frame. Mount the frame onto the 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” dark brown frame.
Using the stipple brush, darken the lower right side of the frame piece.
Using a sharp white pencil, highlight the lines of the design.
NOTE: when highlighting, think of the light source that is shining onto your object. In this case, the light is coming from the upper left corner so all the highlights will be on the left sides of each line. Remember when highlighting lines; put the pencil mark on only one side. This will give the line a three dimensional appearance.
Attach the colored and highlighted frame to the cream colored piece and attach to the card. Add the liner to the inside and the cut out heart to the center of the frame with some dimensional tape. Enjoy!
